With a reprieve from the weather, we were fortunate to wake up to cooperating tuna, and even a few wahoo to kick off our action packed day. Taking advantage of the nice weather, we set out in search of more tuna and the target species of the day, Dorado. We ended up on a nice school of big Dorado and everyone got enough to take home for family & friends. We ended our day, back in tuna mode with a couple more fish and one heart breaker - a bigger fish which chewed through the line at color which looked to be in the 120 pound class.
James Mertzweiller, traveling all the way from Alaska displays a nice one he was able to pick up in today's bite & Doug Rodricks from Sierra Drifters shows off his skill with the fly rod getting one on the artificial.

Time to start heading up the line,

The guys

P.S. Doug says hi to Natalie, and Jay Preston your reel works well

With ants in our pants and today being the real first day of fishing, the gang was raring to go bright and early and ready to get rid of those itchy fingers. Staying patient and waiting for things to wake up, the timing couldn't have been any better when the yellows showed up in force. As the sun was rising we were staying steady on beautiful premium 25-40lb yellows. It didn't take too long before the sweat was dripping...... Read More
