Fish Report for 2-28-2019
Shasta water releases begin and the trout bite remains spotty.

Jeff Goodwin
Today I fished Shasta Lake as water managers begin releasing 25,000 cfs for flood control and found a pretty slow bite. Theres a lot of debris in the lake after the big rains we saw the past few days and most of the arms are a little on the colored side. Some of the arms are pretty muddy, but on a positive note the lake temps came up a few degrees. White spoons got most of the bites, but so did an orange Bay Rat and a black/green Optimizer. I have a solid month of fishing booked on Shasta in March, but still have some dates left in April for those of you who would like to get after some big spring browns. We'll see good fishing all summer and I'll be on Shasta for most of it prior to my salmon season which begins in September. I'll have a few boats helping me run trips for all the species we pursue so getting a trip booked isn't going to be a problem for anyone who wants to get in on this years fishing trips.
