To plan

It sure is nice when events unfold according to plan. Not by accident, not by chance results today were exactly what we sought. Following our night of reverie an easy early morning of coastal fishing segued into ideal mid morning through afternoon action on quality yellowtail. Always enjoyable to swing on the big baits anglers put the mackerel we loaded the previous night to good use. Proving irresistible to the bigger of the bunch the yellows landed on the “frogs” today were consistently larger and much more scrappy. An awful lot of shredded lines obviously raked over the reef and lost fish attested to this fact.

But that element of the morning actually added to the fun inserting yet another challenge into the never ending list of obstacles that anglers overcome. It’s all part of it. Fully satisfied by early afternoon we put her on course for offshore fishing above seeking a final bit of color and variety on our final day of fishing tomorrow. Reports of abundant dorado offshore will be explored albeit in abbreviated fashion. If something floating is in our path, or close to it, we are in the market for a quick shot. Reports from our colleagues should help in narrowing the search grid so we’ll see if luck is on our side again tomorrow. From the weather standpoint it certainly is. Photo today features Royal Star angler Josh Miramontez and one of his fine quality yellowtail landed during the morning action.
