Damn fine angling here today beginning after dawn and continuing through late afternoon. The usual list of obstacles kept it from being a wholesale slaughter but the potential was certainly there. What a day. Most poignant is the blessed ability to simply sit and fish. Consistent at the island all season the hot ticket to success is time at the rail, lines in the water. Combine that time with angling finesse, perfectly prepared tackle, and good old fashioned elbow grease and the rewards do come. However majority credit still goes to the fish for providing the opportunity. They have to bite for us to have a chance. And bite they did today.
Seeking to build on this worthy foundation we roll into the second full day unspeakably pleased with conditions at hand. Grease calm is an accurate description; better weather offshore can not be found. Between that and the never ending geologic details of the island that evoke awe and wonder anytime one ventures to stare we are captured in the full beauty and benefit this amazing destination consistently boasts, and are thankful for it.
Photo today features long time Royal Star angler and friend Roger Burrow with a morning beauty captured quickly amid action hot and heavy all around.
