Shogun Sportfishing Fish Report
7-23-2008
Bruce A. Smith
Our day started out strong, spotting a kelp loaded with eager biting yellows. The drift lasted over 45 minutes, with many fish released. Later this morning we fished several other kelps with yellows and dorado. A couple of fish were landed with light spinning gear, with laughs and high fives on deck. The charter master Capt Steve Talmadge keeps the energy high and attitudes upbeat throughout the day. Being an invitational charter he knows all the passengers well, most all fish with him regularly up in San Francisco.
This afternoon we had a troll strike that provided all with a bit of entertainment. A striped marlin of around 200# bit a Speedy Marauder and the fight was on. Stand up style fishing, the Shogun was drifting throughout the event. The fish was released unharmed to fight another day. This evening we are running down to Cedros to give the island our best effort tomorrow.
