Seabass Aboard the Aloha Spirit

7-17-2008

I joined Captain Shawn Steward and the Aloha Spirit crew out of Captain Hook's Sportfishing for a full day of fishing in search of the ever elusive white seabass. We had great fishing weather and the day looked promising. We began looking around the east end of Santa Cruz Island but couldn't get the seabass to bite. Captain Shawn Steward decided to take us to the north end of the gap to load up on some quality rockfish for the first half of the day. Once we got our fill we headed back to the east end to continue our search. Capt. Shawn was marking fish everywhere but they proved to be somewhat bashful. It was steady picking on the calico throughout the afternoon with a handful of batrays that got everyone's pulse going. At long last a school went under the boat and a few decided to play. We had a great time and as always, the crew of the Aloha Spirit was friendly and professional. I look forward many more trips aboard the Aloha! Till next time... Tight lines!
