CORAL SEA LIMITED LOAD 2 DAY
7-13-2008
Don Padick
If bunking up and doing the tuna shuffle with 35 or so of you're not so closest friends isn't you're idea of a fun fishing experience then I've got the boat for you. The Coral Sea with Captain Randy Kramer specializes in limited load and ultra limited load(14 anglers) trips targeting the entire spectrum of offshore species. I was lucky enough to jump on board with Captain Kramer, Captain Tim Overstreet and the rest of the Coral Sea crew for a 2 day offshore hunt for albacore and bluefin tuna. We headed to an area roughly 85 miles from San Diego and put out the trollers at first light. An early jig strike and bait hookups confirmed that we were in the right area as a couple of nice albacore tuna hit the decks. Periodic jig strikes followed, with a baitfish or two hooked on most hits but the schools never stayed up for long. The pattern continued for most of the day with lulls interupted my drag screaming albacore jig strikes that sent everone scrambling for a lively bait. The next morning continued with occasional hits on the jigs, including a flurry of nice bluefin tuna. The weather was awesome and everyone had a great time. The Captains and crews expertise and hard work was greatly appreciated by all on board. The Coral Sea is currently running out of H+M landing in San Diego and their entire schedule can be found at www.coralseasportfishing.com. Email me at donpadick@hotmail.com for pics.
