Lake Sabrina - 6-15-08 Dad's Day

11-30--0001
Lake Sabrina Boat Landing Staff

Spending the weekend with family and friends was on tap for lots of Dads during the week leading up to Dad's Day. The weather was awesome as was the fishing. Dad Jones proved to be an astounding teacher cuz' son Tyler Jones of Portola Valley reeled in his first fish ??? a ONE-POUND BROWN. Good going DAD!

Local Bishopites seem to know how to entice those bigger fish out of the lake (could it be they're here a bit more often????-well????? you on your way yet?). Marty Pendleton pulled in a 3-lbs Alper on a NightCrawler, Dan Doran hauled in a 5-3/4 pounder and Bill Henry caught a 3-1/4 lbs rainbow - both caught with a Thomas Buoyant. Howard Hodgson of Yucca Valley hopefully paid for his trip snagging a YELLOW TAGGED 3-pounder on a Kastmaster.

So now what's working ??? pretty much the same things as last week. Lots of limits came out this week from the three inlets ??? Dingleberry Inlet (back right-hand side), the LittleGeorge Inlet (back left-hand side) and the George Inlet (this way a bit from the LittleGeorge Inlet) ??? with most anglers using NightCrawlers and PowerBait (the PowerBait color did change from Yellow and Orange to Chartreuse). Gold Kastmasters and Red and Gold Thomas Buoyants and olive wooly buggers were on order for Trollers. And for those just enjoying the scenery (driftin' the lake) it was NightCrawlers or PowerBait.

A bit more of the pine pollen (that's the lime yellowish-greenish stuff on top of the water) is showing up on the rapidly filling lake. The Department of Fish and Game stocked on Monday.

The temperatures have been in the high 40s during the night and the mid 70s during the day. Not a lot of wind ??? YIPPEE!! You may want to check out Howard's forecast at www.MammothWeather.com.

Remember your sunscreen, dark glasses and bug juice as we have a quite a few of those pesky skeeters making a BIG-TIME appearance. Ponchos may also be needed this weekend - you never know! ALWAYS PACK A JACKET! ! ! !

Animals are all behaving themselves ??? Hi's be fishin a bit, Lo's enjoying his Lion cut and Nims is terrorizing the varmints.

You can still register for the BISHOP CREEK CANYON SUMMER CLASSIC TAGGED TROUT DERBY.
