Solid Day

Hi Gang,
We had another solid day on what I would call 120 to 160 pound yellowfin tuna. Our day started out in the pre dawn hours with Fred Knilans using a live skipjack bait, and piclked off one that taped out at 225#. Strong work Fred! After that it was steady action with one to five fish hooked all day long. We saw less fish over the 160 pound mark today but most fish averaged over 120 pounds. All sardine fishing methods worked today with fish being caught on the flyline, the sinker rigs, and the balloon rigs. We did have a few heartbreaking losses on bigger fish today. Random losses like pulled hooks, a broken hook, a straightened hook, a couple of break offs which I contribute to the fact that our weather was a bit choppy today with 15 knots of wind and sea to go with it. All in all, it was a solid day. Our weather forecast is for this wind to subside tonight and to be less than 10 knots the rest of the week. Our chefs topped a great day of fishing off with a rack of lamb dinner that was nothing short of spectacular. We have high hopes for what tomorrow will bring. Wish us luck, Captain Bill Cavanaugh and the Intrepid Team
