I never would have thought we would be fishing in T-shirts today. The seas and wind calmed down for a great day on the water. The giant squid only bothered us for a while in the morning and all day long anglers aboard the Shogun put it to those bottom fish. It was almost exclusively big reds and big lings. A 16# lingcod took big fish honors with lots of 10 pounders hitting the deck as well. Today was easily our best day for bottom fish this season. Tomorrow the Shogun heads offshore paddy hopping looking for yellowtail. A few fish were caught today and we hope to find that lucky kelp tomorrow.
