A nice, mellow day of scratch yellowtail fishing on the most beautiful ocean imaginable. Flat calm – grease; an easy long period swell, just the right temperature, all things combined made a good time of it. Just what the doctor following a day and a half of southerly travel we located some sign, settled in, and remained on the anchor the entire day picking away at nice yellows. Though they never really got with it they never left us either. They seemed content to hang around the boat all day ambushing baits at random, and staging for the occasional bum rush. One at a time and the occasional small flurry added up by day’s end. We chalked this one up in the success column. A short move down the line will infuse some scenery as the pursuit continues.

Without a doubt things are beginning to change quickly. Warm water is moving up. I don’t doubt that some legwork on the outside will soon produce exotics. Yellowfin tuna, wahoo, and dorado are destined to arrive. Stay tuned for further reports.

No one has found it yet...... Read More

Today we opted to spend the day at an island. It was a nice change of pace after plowing around offshore the two days prior. We scratched away at yellowtail, ending the day with 21. Also we ended up making a few rockfish drifts so everyone had some tasty bottom dwellers to take home. We will be tying up at Fisherman’s Landing in the am to come back and do it all over again! ...... Read More
