Unsettling

A warm welcome in Cabo San Lucas and quick passage across placed us square in the zone yesterday morning. What appeared to be a setting brimming with promise promptly fizzled leading to a seek and destroy mission that sadly failed in it's objective. Not from a lack of fish (sound familiar?) the potential for glory is certainly around. Wresting such results from this offshore paradise however may be an order a little broad. Though it is early, far too early for panic, there is definitely an unsettling component to day one in the promised land.
We'll see what tomorrow brings. It's not uncommon to see a change, or for fishing to fall off for a day or two, following the full moon. For now we plan to bide our time, settle in, and scratch whatever is available. At the very least we do have other options and a wealth of time; a good thing in every respect. Speaking of good things the weather is treating us with kindness, and is expected to soon be flat calm; always a bonus regardless of what is, or isn't, on the end of the lines. Look for tomorrow's report with more details. And, don't wait to book those 1 ½ day voyages if you are thinking about going. Captain/Co-Owner Brian “Gerbie” Sims is manning the office and informed me that all three are filling fast. With the local opportunities at offshore bluefin, and now beautiful grade yellowtail showing up along the coast, I'm not surprised.

5-8-2017So far smooth passage southward maintaining our scheduled arrival time in Cabo San Lucas Wednesday afternoon. As for conditions the coast certainly appears to be in the classic Spring transition with abundant green, cool water driven to the surface by consistent NW winds. This setting is what I would call “normal”, if such a medium exists in the ocean environment. Perhaps better said is that these conditions are very common along this stretch of the coast at this time...... Read More

Taking off in slightly inclement weather we are pleased to report that all is well and sea conditions are far better than expected. Our load of bait appears excellent as we make way south with Cabo San Lucas in our sights. Three days passage will provide plenty of time for the boys to prepare the boat for work before meeting all but one of our group in the modern day fishing Mecca of Los Cabos Wednesday. After that we are...... Read More
