Feather River Striped Bass Fishing Remains, "Red Hot"

The best striper fishing in years continues to take place on the Feather River at curent time. The limit out style fishing has moved out in front of the Yuba City, Ca boat launch and down to Shanghi Bend. The mass of fish that had been staged up river below the Live Oak rock damn have backed down river and are now litterally a stone's throw away from the docks in downtown Yuba City.  Recreational and Sport Fishing Guide's alike have been reaping the benefits of this rare occurance. Some NorCal guides have been able to run double trips as limits of quality striped bass have been retained in less the one hour on some occations. And guide's like Mike Rasmussen of SalmonSacRiver.com have been offering night trips with pheonominal fish counts upwards of 100 striped bass during the six hour guided fishing trip. River flows from Oroville Damn have come back up to 30k cfs yesterday putting a hault to any potential spawning of the Spring striped bass run. The outlook for the remainder of the season is promising for the striped bass fishing in Northern California, and good fishing can be expected through June of 2017.

Mike has called Northern California home his whole life. Fishing the streams of the eastern sierras for trout and the Russian river for steelhead as a young boy, his passion for fishing and the outdoors consumed his childhood as knowledge was gained. Attending high school in Corning, Ca, Mike also spent a great deal of time on the banks of the Sacramento river, chasing Salmon, Steelhead, American Shad and Striped Bass. Mike was fortunate enough to have been taught by some experienced guides that have since passed. Now a guide himself over the last decade, he prides himself on providing a comfortable, fun and enjoyable experience for all those he guides. You will not find another guide in Northern California as devoted as Mike and that spends the amount of time on the water as he does. It definitely shows at the end of the day when the fish are counted.
