Easter Afternoon Easy Limits On The Sacramento River!!!

Easter Sunday April 16, 2017 was yet another wet but eventful day on the Sacramento River acording to striped bass fishing guide Mike Rasmussen, owner of  SalmonSacRIver.com . The Northern California fishing guide reporting easy limits of quality striped bass to 7 and 8 pounds caught mainly on AA 3.5 inch swimbaits. "Matching the hatch", as Rasmussen called it.  Using smaller artificials, such as swim baits, and rip baits are working best for the Sacramento River fishing guide. Kittle's Outdoor & Sport Co kittlesoutdoor.com carries all the favorite swim baits being used curently on the Sacramento River around the Colusa, Ca area.  Ki-Tech and Reaction Inovation baits in the smaller white pattern have also been working well for Rasmussen.

Even in this high water year on the Sacramento River the striped bass fishing here in Northern California has been red hot. With only a few days being had, where limits were hard to scatch out. Now that this last water rise from Keswick Damn in Shasta Co has hit the Colusa area and stabilized, you can count on easy limits being produced by the guides that spend time on the water no matter the conditions. The few spots that the striped bass have to lay around in on the Sacramento River are far and few between. But in the pockets of water that they congragate in, there are big groups of striped bass that are always available for a quick snack, making easy work for fishing guides like Mike Rasmussen. A Northern Californian that has spent a great deal of his life chasing these bass around. Plenty of opertunities still exist to book a striped bass fishing trip for the 2017 spring run of striped bass here on the Sacramento River as this season is expected to run through the end of May. You can reach Rasmussen by phone at (530) 722-8876 or by Email at salmonsacriver@gmail.com or on the web at salmonsacriver.com.

Mike has called Northern California home his whole life. Fishing the streams of the eastern sierras for trout and the Russian river for steelhead as a young boy, his passion for fishing and the outdoors consumed his childhood as knowledge was gained. Attending high school in Corning, Ca, Mike also spent a great deal of time on the banks of the Sacramento river, chasing Salmon, Steelhead, American Shad and Striped Bass. Mike was fortunate enough to have been taught by some experienced guides that have since passed. Now a guide himself over the last decade, he prides himself on providing a comfortable, fun and enjoyable experience for all those he guides. You will not find another guide in Northern California as devoted as Mike and that spends the amount of time on the water as he does. It definitely shows at the end of the day when the fish are counted.
