Fish Report for 4-1-2017

Cisco’s Report: Saturday April 1st

4-1-2017
Channel Islands Sportfishing

Nice weather and better than average fishing for today’s anglers. Some boats ran to the islands but a few fished the coast and were pleasantly surprised by not only the numbers of fish caught but the quality. Out of the 2,000 Rockfish caught today, it would be safe to say 75% of them were Vermilion Rockfish aka Red Snapper. One boat reported catching straight limits of Red Snapper and big ones! Pictured here is an example of one caught and weighed in at an even 8 pounds. The weather was also very nice until the afternoon wind came up. Sunny and warm however the water temperatures are still hovering around 55 degrees. All in all, a great way to start the weekend but we have one day left. If you can get away and go fishing tomorrow, give us a call or book online at your leisure. We have plenty of open spots on boats leaving as early as 4am and as late as 8am, plus an overnight trip is you want to fish the outer islands! Today’s Fish Count: 10 boats and 220 anglers. 2,000 Assorted Rockfish, 300 Ocean Whitefish, 73 Lingcod, 10 Sheephead and 3 Sculpin.
