Horseshoe Lake Report

GENERAL CONDITIONS
The lake level is still on the rise and a lot of fish are being put in the lake! The hot spots lately have been Fishermen’s Row and the Peninsula Point! We do not sell State fishing licenses at Quarry Lakes, so please be sure to have your 2017 license before you arrive! Thank you!
CATFISH
A few catfish are still being caught.
TROUT
Over 1,500 pounds of trout from Mt. Lassen have been stocked in the lake within the first 2 weeks of January.
It is reported that on December 31, 2016, Jose Carrillo of San Jose caught his limit of trout ranging in weights up to six pounds each! He was using micetails and was fishing from the Peninsula Point.
On December 31, 2016, Jack Antrim of Hayward caught and released three trout using a rainbow runner. Jack was fishing from his boat in the front half of Horseshoe Lake. Jack was back on January 01, 2017 and caught and released three more trout using a rainbow runner. He caught two in the front of one from the back of Horseshoe Lake in his boat.
On January 03, 2017, Nick Phothisane of Hayward was very excited to report that he caught his limit of trout in 45 minutes!!! Nick was using a white/orange micetail on one rod and a yellow/orange micetail on another! Each trout weighed between three and four pounds. Nick was fishing from the Peninsula Point. He caught another limit on January 04, 2017, but this time it took him a couple of hours.
On January 04, 2017, Jack Antrim of Hayward and his boat were back and he caught and released four more trout using a rainbow runner. This time he caught them in the back of Horseshoe Lake.
On January 06, 2017, Troy Acobo of San Jose caught a four-pound, six-ounce rainbow trout using power bait along Fishermen’s Row.
Rafael Quiroga of Hayward caught a two-pound trout using brown power bait! He was fishing along Fishermen’s Row.
On January 06, 2017, Ron Albarillo of Fremont caught a five-pound trout using rainbow power bait with glitter!!! Ron was fishing to the left of the beach.
