TROUT: Trout fishing at Lake Camanche continues to be very good for some anglers, and a bit tougher for others. KFBK Outdoor radio host Bob Simms was here during the week and had a pretty good outing. He caught about 12 crappie fishing with mini-jigs, 4 trout from 2 ??-4 ?? pounds trolling on the surface with Rapala lures, and he hooked into one largemouth bass and one spotted bass weighing 2-3 pounds each.

Mark Koller and Jim Nagey, from Rocklin, had a very fine day on Saturday. They caught 2 limits of beautiful trout, from 2-4 ?? pounds, while trolling with dodger/Needlefish, and dodger/nightcrawler combinations. They got on the water at first light and caught many fish on the surface, and when the sun got higher they went down 10-20 feet deep. Most of their fish came near the dam and Hat Island.

The South Shore Pond has been very active this week with many reports of fine trout there. Mike Lensing, from Pollock Pines, caught 4 nice trout from 1 ?? - 2 pounds using Yum's new TroutKrilla pellets. Yum's new TroutKrilla comes in pellet form (like Power Eggs), and also in paste form (like other dough baits). Their new formula will make this bait a real great alternative for bait fishermen.

The North Shore Day Use Point has been very productive for anglers this week. Kevin Oliver and Mark Tenebruso, from Folsom area, caught 8 great trout last weekend. They fished from 8 a.m.-Noon, and had a stringer of fish that weighed almost 22 pounds total. Their big fish was 3 ??-4 pounds, and all of their fish were caught on a nightcrawler/marshmallow combination.

This week's trout plant from Mt. Lassen hatchery will be 1,200 pounds of fish, and will be planted at the North Shore launch ramp. These fish will weight 2 ?? pounds average, with many of 3 pounds and up.

BASS: Local resident Dan Valdez had a big day of bass fishing this week, catching 10 bass up to 3 ?? pounds. He was fishing off the tops of submerged islands in the main lake, the Narrows, and also near Chevron Point at South Shore. All of his fish came from 20-35 feet deep, and he was using plastic swim baits, plastic crawdad imitations, and plastic worms.

CRAPPIE: No reports of crappie this week.

CATFISH: No reports of catfish received this week.

We encourage all anglers to report their stories, comments, or concerns to either North Shore Store, South Shore Store, or to us by email at eporray@camancherecreation.com. Thanks again for choosing Lake Camanche for your recreation destination.
