2-12-2007
Lake Camanche Staff

LAKE CONDITIONS: Lake Camanche's current elevation is 220.68 feet above sea level, a drop of .56 feet this week. The lake will drop slowly this week. There is currently no water flowing into Lake Camanche, and water is flowing out of Lake Camanche at 340 c.f.s. The surface water temperature at the marina is 49 degrees.

TROUT: Due to the wild weather fronts going through the area this week, there have been few reports from anglers this week. The same patterns have been evident, with some fishermen having some great luck, and others finding it rough going. One angler named Dale had a good day during the week, hooking 6 trout and landing 4 of them. All were in the 2-2 ?? pound size, and were caught trolling with orange grubs, and also a dodger/nightcrawler combination. He was trolling near the surface, in the area of the spillway and the dam.

Don Sloan and Gary Arisman caught several nice trout fishing with worms near the dam. Don's big fish topped the scales at 5 pounds, and Gary's was a nice 3 pounder. They also had several fish that were a little smaller in size. Local resident Ron Bush caught a real beauty while shore fishing at North Shore recently with Power Bait. His trout was a fine, fighting 5 pounder.South Shore Pond continues to put out some very nice trout this week. The big fish for the week was caught by Monica Mueller, from Miner's Camp. She caught an 8 pound trout, fishing from shore, with a Magic Bullet.

This week's trout plant from Mt. Lassen hatchery will be increased to 1,800 pounds of fish. This plant will be split between South Shore Pond; 900 pounds, and South Shore launch ramp; another 900 pounds.

BASS: We would like to thank two bass clubs for holding their meets here at Lake Camanche on Saturday. The Sonora Bass Club had 19 boats go out, and we congratulate the team of Larry and Mike Freeman for the wining weight of 25.89 pounds, and they also had the big fish at 6.06 pounds. The Bass Chasers from Turlock had 11 boats go out, and we congratulate the team of Ty Garland and Beau Courtroul for their wining weight of 16.93 pounds, and they also had the big fish at 3.98 pounds.

The lures I heard most often mentioned for bass were dark colored jigs, 4 inch worms in purple, green pumpkin, or brown; tube baits in green pumpkin or brown, 4 inch lizards, and jigs with a plastic crawdad trailer. Most fish were caught between 25-50 feet deep. Fish were caught off the submerged island tops in the main lake, the Narrows, Lancha Plana, and China Gulch.

CRAPPIE: No reports of crappie this week.

CATFISH: No reports of catfish received this week.

We encourage all anglers to report their stories, comments, or concerns to either North Shore Store, South Shore Store, or to us by email at eporray@camancherecreation.com. Thanks again for choosing Lake Camanche for your recreation destination.
