It wasn't load 'em up style action by any means but what a nice day. Spectacular conditions, perfect for coastal fishing, made for a comfortable, satisfying day at the rail. Just enough opportunity to catch a trophy yellowtail kept everyone angling intently and thoroughly enjoyng the opportunity to practice their passion. Throw in a bunch of eager, pesky kelp bass, that harrassed perhaps too many of the sardines intended for yellowtail, and the setting was reminiscent of day's of old at this well know coastal haven. So it ended as we cruised up the stunning lee in a weak Santa Ana atmosphere crystal clear and razor sharp. Every minute detail from the pebbles on the near shore to the sixty miles distant rugged mesa's and peak's spoke to another space in time. It was a good day to appreciate the right side of life. I'm certain that every soul on board currently agrees. Through a stroke of fortune not lost on a group of veteran's intimately familiar with how horrid the ocean does become tomorrow's ride north will feature yet another ocean becalmed. A gift earned through many sojurns otherwise the pleasure of easy northward travel will be gratefully absorbed.
