THE CABO SAN LUCAS FISH REPORT - THE GAVIOTA SPORTFISHING FLEET AND MORE

Yellowfin tuna were again the main catch for the week and adding an interesting twist was the daylight catch of 43 giant Humboldt squid. Billfish counts were again very slow but the dorado counts improved a bit. Overall counts for the Gaviota Fleet and the Fish Cabo boats combined, reporting for 47 fishing days reflected 2 stripers, (1 released) 30 dorado, 43 giant squid, 4 yellowtail, 10 bonito and 154 yellowffin tuna.

Cabo Climate: Excellent climate, temps from 60 nights to 88 daytime highs and sunny

Sea Conditions: Cooler waters and somewhat off colored, temps from Cabo Falso to Gorda Point and out to about 10-15 miles was 66-67 degrees. Outside the 1000 fathom curve was a cold water pocket, approixmately 20 miles wide & 45 miles long, at 61-63 degrees.

Best Fishing Area: Out to the south of Cabo and around to the 95 fathom spot and outside to 20-plus miles or more.

Best Lure/Bait: Tuna still on the feathers of most colors, cedar plugs, jet heads, etc.

Live Bait Supply: Remains very good with mackerel and caballitos in the mix.

THE MAZATLAN FISH REPORT - THE ARIES SPORTFISHING FLEET

Another difficult off-shore fishing week, created by cooler water and streaked color and current conditions. The overall counts for the offshore reflected 1 striper, 8 yellowfin tuna, 7 dorado and 1 mako shark for 19 days fished. The inshore fishing report for 10 days reflected a variety catch that included 42 loras, 2 toro, 10 vaquetas, 2 sierra and 14 pargos.

Mazatlan Climate: Near picture perfect days and cool nights, temps from 48 nights to 85 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Light surface breezes, cold water, 62-63 inshore and rising to 66-67 offshore, mostly off color.

Best Fishing Area: None reported

Best Lure/Bait: None reported

THE IXTAPA-ZIHUATANEJO FISH REPORT - THE INDEPENDENT FLEET

No Report

I/Z Climate: Mostly sunny and warm, temps from 71 nights to 84 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Offshore breezes at about 10-15 knots, temps at 77 inshore and rising to 81 offshore from 10 miles.
