CATFISH

Over 150 anglers visited the lake this past weekend! The catfish bite is not slowing down as anglers reel in catfish from Half Moon Cove and Eagle Cove. Cut mackerel and chicken liver continue to be the best baits at Lake Jennings.

The Catfish Record is set by Bob Bowden in 2014 with a 71.3 lbs. blue catfish. His bait? A plastic white frog split tail balled together with a small white grub tail onto a treble hook… not the usual tackle for catching a cat, but it worked! Be creative and see if a fish bites! Hot Dog skins and chicken nuggets have been known to land limits in the past!

PANFISH

Bluegills are biting along the campground shoreline and Sentry Cove. Meal worms and night crawlers are the baits of choice. Cast in to depths of 10-15 feet.

CATCHES OF THE WEEK

Ella and Danielle Arneson of Chula Vista each caught their limit of Catfish midday on Saturday. The largest weighed in at 16 lbs.! They were fishing from a boat in Half Moon Cove with flyline mackerel.

Do you miss Night Fishing season? Good News! Lake Jennings will be having another Bite Overnight event on Saturday, October 15th! The lake will stay open until midnight for boating and fishing under the Full Harvest Moon. A full sized lantern is required after 8 p.m.

Lake Jennings is adding 5 tipis to the campground! The tipis are 20 ft. in diameter with plenty of room for the whole family! Two of the tipis are up and will be made available for rent very soon— check availability by calling (619) 390- 1623!

Lake Jennings has Active Duty military pricing for fishing permits, boat rentals, and kayak rentals. Just show your ID at the register to receive a discounted rate!
