Continuing success

Good yellowfin tuna action again placed the day, and kept the voyage, squarely in the category of success. Between the outstanding grade of the local offshore tuna, superb weather, and carnival atmosphere there was zero to take issue with. That comfortable, carefree attitude that goes hand in hand with a beautiful catch in the RSW tanks enabled all of us to laugh off the ridiculously bold, and sadly futile, incursions by the mosquito fleet as the non fishermen of the bunch (about ninety five percent of them overall) focused their attention on finding stopped boats instead of finding fish. It's an age old story fueled by a simple lack of understanding about fish behaviour. But no matter, as long as we are all out there making a good time of it. Today we did. One piece of advice I'm compelled to dispense is for anglers to make certain to take full advantage of every opportunity that comes their way in this local arena. Make sure that your gear is perfect – your knots are correct, your drags are properly set, your equipment is matched to the action. These opportunities are fleeting. The school your vessel of choice finds may be the only one of the day, or even the only one of the trip. Approaching the situation with poor preparation, and sacrificing a few before getting serious about putting them on board, may be an error that haunts one to the end. “Make hay while the sun shines”; a timeless quote that perfectly reflects the idea. In this arena especially truer words were never spoke. So passes this voyage as we roll into the next offshore three day with Captain Paul Carramao assuming command. Prospects remain excellent with several attractive options at hand. Look for reports to continue tomorrow as the boys get a jump and easily reach the grounds by early afternoon. Much gratitude from all of us at Royal Star to Brandon Hayward and Scott Hulet of “The Bight” for sponsoring this three day run. Next season we bump it up to an October 7 day with the outside island our intended destination. As for the publication itself we could not be more supportive of the concept and content. It is light years beyond anything previously seen.

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 224-4764 to get in on the action.
