Del Valle Lake Fishing Report

7-15-2016
Del Valle Marina

The weather this week has been beautiful with average temperatures in the mid 80s to low 90s. Water temperature has drastically risen to 78 degrees making the fishing fantastic. Best bet to catch fish would be either stripe bass or catfish. We’ve had many anglers limiting out on stripe bass this past week. Most anglers are catching them on anchovies either in the dam or in swallow bay. We have had anglers report catching them on jerk baits and top water baits.

Catfish have been biting more and more as each day passes with the recent catfish plants (we did not receive one this week). Most anglers are catching them on anchovies, mackerel or nightcrawlers. If you target catfish we recommend fishing in either the lower or upper narrows where you can find a lot of cover (fallen trees, weed beds, etc.).

Black Bass are sitting in shallow water feeding on shad, so we do recommend using either jerk baits or crank baits fishing near thulie patches, fallen trees, etc. You can also still catch them on either roboworms or senkos.

Isaiah Martinez caught two stripes fishing at the dam the biggest weighed 3 LBS 7 OZ Guillermo Martinez caught one catfish fishing in tarantula cove it weighed 6 LBS 10 OZ Rick Koscielniak caught one catfish fishing the south end it weighed 4 LBS 1 OZ.

Derrick McCulloch caught two stripes fishing the lower narrows the biggest weighed 3.3 LBS.
