Delta Report

California Delta Chambers & Visitors Bureau

If you are fishing in the right spot at the right time there are a few legal striped bass willing to hit that favorite trolled lure or take your favorte bait. Reports indicate that good numbers of stripers are in the system with most less than 18” in length. In fact there has been very little interest due to the heat wave we have been experiencing lately. On the large mouth bass fishing scene, anglers fishing early in the day are taking some respectable bass tossing top water baits, Senkos and frogs nest to the riprap, structures and weed beds. The average bass is going from 2 to 4 pounds, up to an occasional 7 or 8 pounder. Sturgeon still making an appearance off of the Mothball Fleet and the Big and little Cuts. The best baits continue to be eel strips and salmon roe.
