Delta Fish Report

4-6-2016
California Delta Chambers & Visitors Bureau

Striped bass fishing continues to be a hit and miss these days due to the cold and murky water conditions. The better water clarity is on the San Joaquin River where bait dunkers at anchor are spending time in Potato Slough near Grindstone Joe’s tossing shad or sardines. Expect a good number of dinks and a few going up to 24” in length. On the Sacramento River the fishing is tough due to high roily water. Better bet is anchor and fish for sturgeon where conditions are perfect. Best baits continue to be eel strips tipped with nightcrawler and salmon roe. As the water warms up and clarity improves the striped bass fishing should jump off the charts. Stay tuned for periodic updates.
