Eagle Lake Guardians
Merrill Creek at Merrill Campground (Amphitheater) in photo. Papoose Creek still flowing (near camp Ron McD. Pine Creek in Spalding is cloudy but roaring while drawing out the recent rains. Also a few fish in it. Trap being monitored now. A couple dozen Pelicans arrived with unprecedented accuracy from just a few "scouts" last week. Bald eagles are courting, roosting & fishing in the estuary that hasn't seen good water in three years. Migrant birds showing up in small numbers.... Eagle Lake in spring is nothing short of awesome, no matter what. There is always something to see that should never be taken for granted...Pine Creek is a critical lifeline to Eagle Lake. Obviously, priority for restoration now. But, it sure took a helluva lot of bitching to get it to that point!
