Nice day

This was more like it; traditional islands style fishing scratching all day long following a solid morning hit. A few chances at legitimate jumbos came and went, and one at 208 was capitalized upon again by “Rock Cod” Rick Maxa on the well fished sardine, but the percentages tallied against us at day's end; an often inevitable reality when angling for giants in these regions. Undeterred though we'll be at it again tomorrow enjoying the time and opportunity in this fisherman's paradise. There is nothing like it. In the world of giant yellowfin tuna fishing this is the apex. Between the setting and opportunity the extreme nature here is the attraction. It's definitely a certain breed that embraces such adventure. But once the bold and not too faint of heart take the leap into this fishery it is rare that the contagious region does not instill a calling to return, again and again. Photo today features legendary giant yellowfin tuna angler Garry “Big Fish” Sato. An individual who clearly caught the bug many years prior Garry is still drawn to the prospect of landing these jumbos despite having multiple epic victories under his belt. Today Garry is pictured with Royal Star crewman Blake Wasano and “their” 182 that gave both of them good reason to smile when it came over the rail.
