Topaz Lake, NV - The Topaz Lodge and Casino at Topaz Lake will launch its Annual "Fish for the $1000 Trout" Fish Derby on January 1st. Many fish are planted bearing tags worth from $50 to $100. And the largest fish caught each week earns the angler a $50 prize. Other catches are rewarded with slot play and other goodies.

Topaz Lodge sits above Topaz Lake, providing one of the most picturesque settings imaginable, not just for anglers and boaters, but anyone traveling up and down Highway 395 from northern or southern California.

Over 75,000 trout will be planted in the lake between now and the opener. The Derby lasts until April 15. This means, of course, that when many other high Sierra lakes are closed, anglers can come to Topaz and try their luck at catching one of the lake's monsters or a fish worth up to $1000.
