Klamath River Fish Report

Somes Bar -- Doug Cole of the Marble Mountain Ranch near here has some good advice for anglers who are complaining about crowded conditions along the Trinity. At his blog this week blog.northerncaliforniaflyfishing.com/ Cole sums it up nicely with one photo and the following paragraph.

"What you see is one boat on the river. That is a single boat pressuring the fish on the entire run," Cole said! Photo by Doug Cole

"In my biased, pointed, and humble opinion, the lack of road hum and highway traffic (Hwy 299) and the grand scale of the Klamath canyon are all nice bonuses to a great fishing day. Did I mention fish?" A photo enclosed by Cole showed Stu hold a big steelhead. On their best day, he and his son took 7 adults and about fourteen half pounders, Cole reported.

Cole is right, of course. Now is the time to visit the mid-to-upper Klamath. Fishing will remain good, particularly for steelheads.
