I'm back, did you miss me? I took a well deserved vacation to Missouri to visit my brothers but I've returned to work and will update our fishing report weekly again. While I was gone, my granddaughter Macy Ann Rose pictured in pink caught her 1st fish without assistance from anyone. Her Bluegill weighed a pound and she ate it for lunch! That's my girl..... Chris & Frenchy tapped into a bunch of Bass on the 12th while tossing Sassy Shad lures up at the north end of our lake. Sid Lawrence of Bangor captures a 3 lb. 8 oz. German Brown Trout from the shoreline near the dam just yesterday.

The lake has "turned" and fish are at all different depths now, that's because the water temperature is the same no matter what depth you are fishing in now. None of these catches were deeper than 10 to 20 feet but most were out of a boat. During the winter months we move the second marina (from the sand beach area) across the lake near the dam. This is primarily so we don't have to move it up and down as the lake fluctuates. We still have the main boat dock in the campground and that's where the boat rental are from now until spring time. To rent a boat you would pay for it at the store and pick up the equipment at the same time then drive down to the dock and park at the dock while you are out on the lake.

A local father & son team from Camptonville (Jay & Skylar Noble) caught a Catfish near the buoys by the powerlines using worms. The Catfish are the best catch this week, Eric Hansard took home a 9 pounders from the channel using stinkbait. Wendy Picones also fished the north end in a boat and caught a 5 lb. 4 oz. Catfish using chicken livers. Rick Erkson from Grass Valley cruised to the other side of the lake in the large cove and netted 2 nice Cats. His biggest being 9 pounds and the smallest was 6 lbs. and he used chicken livers too!

Tom Wheeler was SMOKIN!!! On 11/19 he hooked up 3 Cats using Sardines & Anchovies. The biggest Cat weighed 10-1/4, then a 6-1/4, & a 4-1/2,and all were caught near the bridge. Six days later Tom returns (with friends) and using chicken livers this time they caught 3 Catfish again! This time however his friend Bubba caught the Big Mac Daddy Cat, weighing in at 11 pounds! Tom caught a 4 lb. 8 oz Catfish and Sara Smith hooked a 4 lb. 12 oz. Catfish so at least nobody got skunked!!

With the lake 54'' down, we are just at the end of the main boat launching ramp, but we have an alternate ramp located by the dam which is still very convenient to use. This ramp is usable by 2 wheel drive trucks and motorhomes. There is a courtesy dock at this alternate ramp. Ask for directions when you arrive at the entry station to this alternate ramp. If your motorhome is very large, we will offer free launching assistance if you would prefer.

Over 150 Bass were caught and released in the past week, by only 4 fishermen in 2 different boats. They are super aggressive but you must have a boat to get to the north end where they are on the bite. Last week Don Pearson & Tim Merrit of Roseville caught & released 42 Bass. Starting in the morning Don said any lure that looks like a crawdad or colored like a crawdad worked great in about 5 feet of...... Read More
