State Senate Confirms Governor???s Appointment of Gustafson to the Fish and Game Commission

On March 30, 2006, the State Senate voted 33 ayes ??? 0 nays to confirm Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's appointment of Cindy M.Gustafson as a member of the California Fish and Game Commission. She will complete the term of the position vacated by former Commissioner Marilyn Hendrickson.??

Gustafson, 47, of Tahoe City, was originally appointed to the California Fish and Game Commission on June 20, 2005; her term expires on Jan. 15, 2010.

Gustafson is the assistant general manager of the Tahoe City Public Utility District where she oversees the development of public access and environmental projects, as well as the administration of community and intergovernmental relations. In addition, the U.S. Secretary of the Interior appointed Gustafson two terms on the Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee.????

Gustafson's public policy and governance experience includes: election to two terms on the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District's Board of Trustees; appointment by the Placer County Board of Supervisors to six years on the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency; selection to the Board of the Tahoe Baikal Institute; and, appointment to several advisory committees for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.????

Prior to her current employment, Gustafson was Director of Community Relations for Perini Land and Development and the Tahoe Field Representative for Placer County Board of Supervisors.??

Gustafson's numerous contributions to volunteer efforts in North Lake Tahoe have been frequently recognized. She was recently the recipient of the 2006 North Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Community Service Award citing her 20 years of community service. Prior awards include North Lake Tahoe's Person of the Year 1994, Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow 1992, and North Tahoe Soroptomist Woman of the Year 1991.

The Commission meets at least 11 times each year to publicly discuss various proposed regulations, permits, licenses, management policies and other subjects within its areas of responsibility. ??Members do not receive a salary. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Gustafson is registered decline-to-state.
