Let's call this a travel day with a little fishing mixed in, for that is what it became. Lofty notions did not accompany today's agenda; the knowledge of what has been located near this beaten track did not elicit visions of grandeur. We were ready for it though. Knowing the ocean's propensity for surprise we even had a few bombs and Marauders rigged in case we became "The One's"; seventy seven degree sea surface temperatures by mid afternoon actually made the dream plausible. However no skin were to be, and hardly anything else.

A few dorado and various miniature versions of what we seek were the bulk of this outing's paltry results. We had some hope for this southerly offshore sojurn, but it still is not ready down here. What now is ready are conditions - grease calm by day's end with a rapidly subsiding, easy southerly swell perfect for a few days of targeting the coastal variety in our sights. The door is again open albiet for what appears again may be a temporary period; but the time for this run is clearly here. Now for the yellowtail to do their part; if not we'll be in a world of hurt.

No strangers to such trials by fire we stand prepared to enter the crucible and make it happen. The easy road was a little inconsistent with our principals this time. Off our duff's and looking is what we prefer; we'll see how this goes. Photo today features long time master angler and Royal Star veteran Mike Russel. Snaring this decent quality dorado was a small victory today that stood in tall proportion at day's end. Incremental victories we'll take: one more in the hatch that will grill up nice. Yes sir.
