Mucho fish so the reports from the outside go; getting them to bite is another story. Lock jaw is the theme we hear of upon departure. But our strategy, set in motion by the unwelcoming Hurricane Norbert steaming up the line, is presently one from which we can not deviate. To the west, offshore we go destined to make the most of whatever opportunities we find. No shortage of fish, in fact the exact opposite, gives reason for us to remain upbeat and optimistic.

Regardless we are in for the long haul with what appears will be sufficient time to make a run inside for variety after the remnants of the storm pass to the south. Today's photo of our first albacore of the 2014 season compliment this report. Billy Ito was the fortunate one who nabbed this fat albie from our first stop this morning.

09/04/14 The pieces of the puzzle are falling into place perfectly so far this trip as we arrived on the bft grounds early this morning and shut down on what became an all day drift on 30 to 45lbers. The bite was a slow pick through the morning which is typical of bf but something changed in the afternoon when they let their guard down and bite like yft at times.
