In beautiful weather we expected to see fish again right away. That was not the case today as we awoke in an area that had recently been vacated by bluefin tuna. We went to work searching and searching. Shortly after lunch we got into an area where there was some life. 15-20# yellowfin tuna provided some action with short stops as we continued looking for the elusive bluefin. Late in the evening we finally found what we were looking for, a school of bluefin tuna. The call went out "get the heavy gear, these are better size fish". We hooked four fish, two went away. The two we landed were 94 and 100 pounds respectively. Phillip Bell landed his 100# fish on 50# with a shimano talica 12. Karl Fechner used 40# to subdue his 94.
We will arrive at the dock at 0630 tomorrow and Randy will be at the helm for our next adventure.

6-20-201406/20/14 We have beautiful weather offshore currently, as good as you can hope for when hunting the often elusive bluefin tuna. Today they were not elusive. They showed and we had some truly spectacular views of shining bluefin right next to the boat. Unfortunately they had a severe case of lock jaw and getting a bite proved very difficult. However we did manage to put a few samples on board. Karl Fechner gets the honors today with a 25# fish...... Read More
