Rockfish and Lingcod and Seabass Oh My!

We had another great trip aboard the Ranger 85 with Captain Frank Ursitti and Crew. We shoved off Friday night out of Channel Islands Sportfishing in Oxnard and headed straight for San Miguel Island. We had high hopes for making squid on our way up as there have been reports of November White Seabass, however we scratched less than ten pieces as 21 anglers gave it their all. Although we faced mixed choppy swell and heavy wind on our way out, the Ranger just carved right through it with Captain Frank Ursitti and Second Captain Tim Overstreet at the helm.
San Miguel Island embraced us with nice quality Rockfish including huge Reds, Coppers, Blues, and plenty of Lingcod for easy limits! We had a great group of salty anglers that shared incredible memories at the rail. The Lings were out there spawning and weren't bashful. They pretty much slammed anything we threw at them. On day two the plan was to target the White Seabass after successfully brailing squid on a very nice float. It didn't take long to land the infamous grey ghost. The croakers came over the rail consistently at first light and we quickly realized another epic journey aboard the Ranger 85. I've done plenty of Tuna fishing with Captain Frank and his awesome crew but this was the first time I've fished the Channel Islands with them. What an experience!
It was the perfect way to finish off the season. The Ranger 85 has another 2 Day Trip departing Thanksgiving weekend. Give them a call and finish off the season in style! The Channel Islands are still loaded with plenty of exotics, to get in on the action claim your spot today at 619-997-9993 or 805-382-1612.
