DFG Continues to Increase Public Hunting Opportunities in Southern California

The California Department of Fish and Game's (DFG) Game Bird Heritage Program is providing several Dove and Quail hunts during September and November. The hunts are an effort by DFG to increase public hunting opportunities in southern California.

Three hunts are scheduled in Peace Valley, Los Angeles County, and four hunts at Rancho Jamul, San Diego County, on Sept. 1-2. Two more hunts are scheduled at Rancho Jamul on Nov. 18-19. The deadline to apply to be included in the random public drawing is Aug. 7, 2006 by 5 p.m.

Those interested can call the number listed above to request an application, or go to http://www.dfg.ca.gov/hunting/gbh/index.html and download a form.

Hunters may apply once, and make up to nine hunt selections. An applicant has the possibility for being drawn for one hunt only. Successful applicants will receive a confirmation letter and directions approximately 10 days prior to the hunt.
