This year's regulations prohibiting the recreational retention of Klamath River Fall Chinook salmon over 22 inches total length will take effect on Aug. 15. The regulations were recommended by the Pacific Fishery Management Council and approved by the California Fish and Game Commission. General area closures and gear restrictions are the same as last year. Anadromous waters of the Klamath River Basin are closed to fishing all year, except those listed below:

Klamath and Trinity River Chinook Salmon Seasons.

?Ģ Klamath River from Iron Gate Dam to the Highway 96 bridge at Weitchpec. ?Ģ Open all year except no salmon over 22 inches total length may be retained from April 1 through Nov. 30, 2006. ?Ģ Klamath River Below the Highway 96 bridge at Weitchpec. ?Ģ Open all year except no salmon over 22 inches total length may be retained from Aug. 15 to Nov. 30, 2006. ?Ģ Trinity River main stem from 250 feet below Lewiston Dam to Old Lewiston bridge. ?Ģ Open April 1 through Sept. 15 with zero bag limit for trout and salmon. ?Ģ The trout daily bag limit is one hatchery trout or one hatchery steelhead, and one brown trout. Hatchery trout or steelhead are those showing a healed adipose fin clip (adipose fin is absent). ?Ģ The Chinook salmon daily bag limit is three, of which no more than one can be over 22 inches total length when the take of salmon over 22 inches total length is allowed. ?Ģ No more than two Chinook salmon over 22 inches total length may be retained in any seven consecutive days when the take of salmon over 22 inches total length is allowed. ?Ģ No more than 12 Chinook salmon may be possessed, of which no more than two may be over 22 inches total length when the take of salmon over 22 inches total length is allowed.
