"Hello everyone, well we did it again," wrote Mike Jones for the Shogun Monday October 29. "We found the hoo's we were looking for (yea) everyone on the boat caught one and then some. We had a lot of bites, lost casting jigs, hooks fell off of trolling lures, baits bitten in half, wahoo jumping out of the water chasing baits, it was a lot fun."
Norm Kagawa skippered the ten-day trip with 19 fishermen, and visited The Ridge, the southern banks, and Cedros Island. He docked his rig at Fisherman's Landing November 1.
Harold Guy of Canoga Park won first place for an 80.6-pound yellowfin that bit his sardine on a 4/0 circle hook. He said he fished with 80-pound Izorline on a Penn 30 reel and a Calstar five and a half-foot rod.
Dick McConihay of Van Nuys won second place for a 73-pounder, and Morgan Ininns of Dana Point was third, for a 69.8-pound yellowfin tuna.
