THE PUERTO MORELOS FISHING REPORT FOR THE MARINA EL CID SPORTFISHING FLEET, (CANCUN TO COZUMEL AREA)
Not even the full moon could slow up the fishing in this tranquil Caribbean area of the Atlantic Ocean. The very timely report from our local reporter, Ms. Jessica Ortega, reflected another banner fishing week for the anglers and another wide-spectrum catch for their 47 days fished. Catchs included 5 dorado, 39 bonito, 18 triggerfish, 23 chac-chi, 27 banana fih, 15 grouper, 2 porgy, 19 cabrilla, 1 coronado, 25 snappers, 7 giant barracuda, 1 ambrjack, 7 groundfish, 27 rubias, 2 escochins, 8 yellowstripers, 7 blue runners, 7 cuchas, 5 mero, 3 Spanish mackerel, 7 needle fish, 3 petos, 4 gueros, 20 soapfish, 1 wahoo, 1 remora, 3 pargo, 1 jack crevealle, 4 mojarres, 3 huachinangos, 1 cochino, 1 pluma and 10 craccans.
PM Climate: A mostly cloudy week with periods of intermittent sunshine and periods of scattered rain and thunder showers, (Wednesday, thursday & Sunday). Air temps ranged from 62 nights to 81 daytime highs and a 78% humidity level.
Sea Conditions: Water temps were holding stable at 79-80 degrees throughout the area. Surface breezes were varied and tropical and ranged from very light to 10 mph, with exception to Friday at 16 mph.
Best Bait/Lures: Freshly provided rigging baits were best and continuously selected at the baits of choice.
Bait Supply: Excellent supply and continuously available as part of the charters.
