Loreto Fish Report

1-23-2015
Gary Graham

Wind and even some raindrops for half the week. Bottom fishing has been consistent and that continues with the "sardina" and cut frozen squid. Almost every day, all year long you can fill up on the reds at the shallow water high spots. The bait story is always the lack of "the right bait" --supply and demand to keep the answer clean and polite.

Commercial handline operations are fishing with mackerel because it is the best way for them to get the job done. Where and when they catch their bait changes and they keep that dope to themselves.

It has been easier to stay at the marina and throw a cast net for half an hour instead of fishing all night six miles out!

"Our" trouble with that is that the three-inch sardina that have been coming up at the marina don't catch those big yellows that are in the neighborhood. The yellows are here and the mackerel haven't moved out to Puerto Vallarta ... so stay tuned! ...Rick Hill, Pinchy Sportfishing
