BOW, California Offers Dec. 3 Women???s Pheasant Hunt in Williams
11-8-2006
CDFG
Becoming an Outdoors-Woman, California is offering women a chance to learn how to hunt pheasants on Sunday, Dec. 3. The daylong class is at the Wilderness Unlimited property in Williams, Colusa County.
"Whether you're hunting with friends or with your dogs, behind a pointer or a flusher, the excitement is overwhelming," said Susan Herrgesell, president of BOW, California. "The whole experience is fantastic; walking the fields, hearing the crackle of stubble beneath your boots, watching the dogs on the trail of a wily pheasant."
Cost is $100, and space is limited to the first 15 registrants. Register online at http://www.bowcalifornia.org/events.html#pheasant or call Herrgesell at (530) 347-0227 to receive a registration form.
BOW, California is collaborating with Wilderness Unlimited for the class. Excellent instructors with well-trained dogs will handle lessons.
Everything necessary will be provided for this hunt: shotguns, ammunition, and orange vests. Participants must have a valid California hunting license with an upland game stamp.
The Wilderness Unlimited Clubhouse is on Highway 20, just 1.5 miles east of Interstate 5 in Colusa County. Participants will meet at the clubhouse at 7 a.m. for coffee and a continental breakfast before the hunt.
BOW, California is a non-profit organization dedicated to offering opportunities to learn outdoor skills in a safe, encouraging and supportive environment. Instruction is given in a one, two or three-day workshop with valuable hands-on experiences. The workshops are designed to foster the learning process and provide the opportunity for women to enjoy the outdoors while encouraging and empowering them to build their self-confidence in the outdoors and in life's adventures.
