Our satellite weather maps that we rely on predicted no wind, but when we arrived in the area where we were going to search for kelps, we were greeted with a very large and confused ocean. The strong northeast winds that are plaguing Southern California & the Baja Peninsula were strong enough to reach us a 100 miles offshore with dust driven by 18 - 20 kts. of breeze.
Throughout the day the winds diminished, however we were never able to find an area holding anything except small tuna and Dorado. Dan Shubin was one of the two lucky anglers to land one of the targeted species.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and firemen involved with the wildland fires.
