Captain Johns Fish Report 10-20-07

10-20-2007
Johnny Williams

Today's offshore fishing trip by the partyboat Capt. John was run to an area about 50 miles to the south of the island. Shortly after leaving Galveston's Pier 19, Capt. Tony Langston turned at the end of the south jetty and entered the two foot seas of the open Gulf for the ride offshore.

Once in the chosen area, the 36 fishermen started working their baits of cut squid or whole Spanish sardines throughout the water column, in the 100-110' deep waters, over a series of rocks and a reef. Their efforts, combined with the baits, produced a catch made up of:
?Ģ 72 red snapper to 19# a limit for the fishermen.

Time is running out for the red snapper fishery in Federal waters. As of today, only ten days remain. This closure will be for six to eight months. Now is the time to go...the clock is running. To be a participant, call the Capt. John's office at Galveston's Pier 19, 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853.
