Qualifier Crew

Yellowtail was the targeted species today. Early on, we began with some nice big mackerel for bait. We then made an hour or so move to look for big yellows. We dropped the anchor and started to get a few. Pound for pound, nothing pulls harder? That is what a few of the guys were thinking after hooking into some nice ones. We also had some nice calicos (all released) on the rubber swimbaits. Tomorrow we will be trying for red cods, then Monday in to San Diego for the turnaround. See ya then!

Same old story here on the tuna grounds ??? "slow tuna fishing." Today started with Dorado around the boat in the dark, and after getting a good amount of those it was time to start glassing (man, my eyes hurt!). Well now, what do you do when it's slow ??? how about eat. We did manage to get a few tuna on board, as well as some nice big Dodos and a few Wahoo. We have a wonderful group of anglers with us and have high hopes for tomorrow. Wish us luck! The good news is we did see better signs of fish today.
