Skipper Joe Crisci docked Qualifier 105 at Point Loma Sportfishing after a 10-day trip October 12. The SDFD trip, the Jimmy Hull Memorial, saw tough tuna fishing in southern waters.
Dan Nagy of Cedar City, Utah took top prize for a 31.4-pound yellowtail. Dan fished heavy gear, a Mustad 7/0 hook, 40-pound Izorline, a Penn 113 reel and a Sabre rod.
Gayle Bates of San Diego was second for a 29-pound dorado and Alan Krahenbuhl of Oxnard was third for a 28.4-pound yellowtail.
"The final two days really made the trip," said Bates. "The yellowtail fishing was awesome, it really couldn't get any better. I probably put on five pounds, the food was great."
