Captain Johns Fish Report 10-07-07

10-7-2007
Johnny Williams

"Bumpy & Breezy" were back for today's offshore fishing trip by the partyboat Capt. John as Capt. Tony Langston tried to maneuver around numerous squalls. The weather didn't prevent the 29 fishermen from winding in another of those multi-species catches.

Once past the end of Galveston's south jetty, the run SE began. About fifty miles later, fishing started in 112 ft. of water. Working their cut squid or whole sardine baits over the area's rock formations and wrecks resulted in this catch being iced down in the fish boxes:
?Ģ 58 red snapper to 12#, a boat limit, with many in the 6 to 8 lb. class.
?Ģ 1 gag grouper - 7#
?Ģ 1 Warsaw grouper - 18#
?Ģ 4 kingfish to 22#

To make your reservations on the partyboat Capt. John, call the Pier 19 office at 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853. Hopefully, "Bumpy & Breezy" won't be around for long, making for a more pleasant fishing experience.

The return of relatively calm sea conditions for this day trip by the partyboat Capt. John was certainly welcome. With a few persistent showers to the south of Galveston Island, Capt. Tony Langston made run to the SE after passing the South Jetty. Rocks and wrecks about 55 miles offshore in 125 ft. of water were the destination chosen for the 75 fishermen. Using standard partyboat baits of cut squid or whole Spanish sardines resulted in this catch being iced down...... Read More
