Sacramento River Fish Report 10-04-07

10-4-2007
Bill Divens

Salmon fishing is still tough on the Sacramento River, but getting better. We are chasing scattered schools of salmon, so the catching is not consistent. Expect a few hook ups per trip. We are seeing more salmon than we did a few weeks ago and getting more grabs. The fish we are getting fishing the pockets and travel lanes between Los Molinos and Anderson are still in pretty good shape. Success is a little better in the Barge Hole, but most of the fish that we see coming out of there are pretty old and nasty. K-15 Kwikfish and T-50 Flatfish in various combinations of silver, red, green, and chartreuse account for most of the catch, while a few are coming in on roe. We expect the cooler weather to improve the fishing.

We had a great day on the water and are looking forward to the run building as it normally...... Read More

Small #50 Hot Shots and nymphs to match the hatch have been working well for our trout trips while 1/32 oz. jigs with various colors of grub tails are the hot ticket for shad....... Read More
