The Angler's Choice seven-day charter with 16 anglers aboard the Intrepid arrived September 21 at Pt. Loma Sportfishing. Dan Nichols was skipper, and Luc Ofield the chartermaster.

"We fished at Alijos Rocks, The 13 Spot and Cedros Island," said Nichols. "We had good wahoo on the troll at Alijos and a few tuna. The Ridge is bare, except there's a lot of small yellowtail and tuna at The 13 Spot."

Chartermaster Ofield had good things to say about Intrepid. "It's the best riding boat out there. Javier Quintanar is a five-star chef. Everything is new and good."

Don "Big Daddy" Burnside won first place for a 51.4-pound wahoo he got with a yellow and white Sea Strike 33 jig on 40-pound P-Line and 60-pound Line One Spectra. He said he fished with a Torsa 20 reel and a Seeker 6470 Black Steel rod.

Bob Michener of Oxnard won second place for a 46-pound yellowfin tuna. He also had the best yellowtail of the trip, a 38-pounder, and brought it into the lineup shot. James Halling of Lakeside won third place for a 43-pound yellowfin tuna.
