Albacore Fishing Better
9-16-2007
Bill Roecker
Not all boats lifted their albacore counts this weekend, but some did. One was Pat Cavanaugh's Pacific Dawn, which returned with limits after a two-day trip on September 16.
"I think all that wind we had pushed the water and the fish closer to San Diego," said Cavanaugh on the dock. "Remember how they were out there at 100 miles? We had our best fishing at 58 miles yesterday."
The albies are running large and sleek these days, after feeding well in this area for several months. Many, if not most, are going close to 30 pounds.
