Doug Blalock of Whittier had a good ten-day trip aboard the Spirit of Adventure with owner-skipper Mike Keating. At the H&M scales October 29, he won first place for a wahoo. He won second place for a wahoo. He won third place for a wahoo.
"I got ???em all on home-made bombs," said Blalock. "Gold bombs, made from a torpedo sinker, with a little red trim. The sinker were four-ouncers."
Blalock fished with 50-pound Soft Steel line, he said, and a Trinidad 40 reel and a new Super Seeker 6470 H rod wrapped by his nephew, Dan Blalock of Whittier.
"We fished on kelps north of the 13 Spot," said Doug. "We had a pretty good pick."
